Report back Unite The Resistance

I arrived with my friend Joe saving a seat for me today was a busy day but after settling down I could see several representative’s from branches in PCS. All the speakers delivered very good speeches’ in Particular our own Mark Serwotka the general secretary spoke with pure sanity and was very articulate no nonsense speech.  He did not just say what we are against but put a clear alternative.

Many of the other speakers also reported attacks on workers and community's and Lee Rock spoke about the issue of trade union victimisation.  During the break many of us went to the anti bedroom tax protest  at the town hall.

In mid-afternoon while all this was going on some comrades broke off to go to Rotherham to deal with the BNP.  The BNP did a national mobilization in Rotherham with the colossal total of 30 of them and where quickly shown the door.

During the afternoon I attended one of the workshop’s on benefits cuts and scapegoating.  I got up and spoke at this workshop along with Tom Bishall from our sister branch and 
Jane Aitkinson former DWP Group President.

On days and events like these I often like others have thoughts on what we face and this is mine. If we don’t save the welfare state every single person apart from the rich will live to regret it in particular the ones who don’t get involved to try and save it. Support the fight back, support unions, support all the anti-cuts groups, and community groups if we don’t the ones to suffer most of all will be our kids and grand-kids. Our ancestors will weep in their graves for letting their struggles go with a whimper and future generations will utterly despise us for not having the spine to make a fight of it. To win for all us takes all of us.
