Study shows people with right wing views are just a bunch of thickies

Right-wingers are less intelligent than left wingers, says study

  • Right-wing views make the less intelligent feel 'safe'
  • Analysis of more than 15,000 people

Right-wingers tend to be less intelligent than left-wingers, and people with low childhood intelligence tend to grow up to have racist and anti-gay views, says a controversial new study.

Conservative politics work almost as a 'gateway' into prejudice against others, say the Canadian academics.

The paper analysed large UK studies which compared childhood intelligence with political views in adulthood across more than 15,000 people.
The authors claim that people with low intelligence gravitate towards right-wing views because they make them feel safe.

Crucially, people's educational level is not what determines whether they are racist or not - it's innate intelligence, according to the academics.
Social status also appears to play no part.

The study, published in Psychological Science, claims that right-wing ideology forms a 'pathway' for people with low reasoning ability to become prejudiced against groups such as other races and gay people.

'Cognitive abilities are critical in forming impressions of other people and in being open minded,' say the researchers.
'Individuals with lower cognitive abilities may gravitate towards more socially conservative right-wing ideologies that maintain the status quo.

'It provides a sense of order.'

The study, by academics at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, used information from two UK studies from 1958 and 1970 , where several thousand children were assessed for intelligence at age 10 and 11, and then asked political questions aged 33.

The 1958 National Child Development involved 4,267 men and 4,537 women born in 1958.

This study ironically published in the Daily Mail that bastion of ignorance and racism also highlights why large section of society is susceptible to very aggressive right wing propaganda. In the form of the on-going hate campaigns by the tabloids and other main stream media against benefit claimants, Disabled people, various ethnic, and religious groups, Trade unions and unemployed. In much a similar way as victims of rape were once and in some eyes still are blamed the attitude of all three main political parties is to basically blame the poor for being poor.

Rather than blaming the most vulnerable they avoid looking at the real causes and so we see a whole machine working hard to turn neighbour against neighbour.  I often come across some of the most amazingly stupid comments from people who have right wing views.  Only a short while ago in Rotherham I have one ranting bigot blaming East Europeans for the bad weather.

The problem overall of course is while they set one group against another they are basically laughing all the way to their huge overseas bank accounts.  Although the left, and the more progressive Unions are fighting back hard.  It’s quite astounding to see millions who depend on public service take in all the spin and act against their own interests a classic example of mass social grooming by the media and political elite.

In conclusion

Although more and more are waking up to this all must asked themselves this basic question what is happening is criminal and wrong so what are you going to do about? It by the way when we say you it means all us together.  Remember next time you here the statement someone should do something remind them they are that someone
