Bedroom Tax Action

In Sheffield this Saturday Activists have organised working along side local tenants a protest outside the City Hall at 11 am on Saturday where there will be Trade union and tenants speaking, with support from the Sheffield Anti-Cuts Alliance try and get along if your around.

The Peoples Assembly

The People's Assembly, supported by a growing number of trade unions
and other organisations, is organising a major public meeting on 22nd
may in Sheffield. Owen Jones and Mark Steel will
be speaking, along with Ben Morris, Marion Lloyd from PCS and also,
hopefully, Paul Wood (Chair, Sheffield DLP).

The meeting is partly aimed at building the national People's Assembly
event in London on Saturday 22nd June, which already has over 2,000
advance bookings. A coach has booked for the demonstration and
organisers are seeking to offer transport from all those from Sheffield
who take part. The coach has been booked through South Yorks NUJ
branch, who would gratefully receive any contributions towards the
costs from other union branches. Could branches please discuss
sponsoring members to go (tickets 10 pounds available on-line at
thepeoplesassembly.org.uk), purchasing coach tickets at 15 pounds each,
and making a contribution towards the costs of transport for unwaged
colleagues (payable to S Yorks NUJ).
Fraternally Yours
Sheffield PCS HQ Branch
