Rotherham Anti-Nazi Rally October 27th 2012

UAF Anti Nazi Rally Rotherham

National Front National Mobilisation Rotherham

Once again the people of Rotherham had to organise an anti-Nazi rally do to counter a national mobilisation of the National Front in Rotherham.  Starting at 10:00am I got a lift there once again from a Nut friend.

On this day there was also a big anti-nazi event in Walthamstow so many of our UAF people had gone down there.  So it was un-clear how big the turnout would be. In the end we had about 250 to 300 given we had about 5 days’ notice not a bad turn out at all.  One or two Nazis did try to get into out demo but they were very quickly shown the door they seem far less confident today.

There was no wonder they were less confident please see the picture of their rally and remember this was a national mobilisation.  I got up and delivered a speech as a PCS spokesperson.  I talk about how they offer nothing for communities other than hate and we need unity to fight the government’s austerity agenda in Rotherham they have just announce 750 jobs to go at the hospital 20% of the workforce.  Some of our activist had received threats from the Nazis but they never carried them out however to give you an idea what a bright shower they are they made these threats in writing.

Something nasty came to Rotherham but something good came out of it a feeling of class unity and to move on from this and fight for our public services and our communities the outcome instead of dividing us they actually united us.  I was proud to speak as a PCS speaker and we think they will think twice before they move on to Sheffield a line was drawn today this far and no further.

Fraternally Yours

Sheffield PCS HQ Branch Secretary
